In Case You're Not Feeling Old Today...

Here's a handy chart from XKCD that can be useful to kidlit writers especially. It's a fun reminder that if you have a book coming out in 2024, those Hammertime jokes are seriously going to fall flat.

  2. That's fun! Interestingly, I cannot remember a few things on the list already...Lorena Bobbit?? And I think I just don't get the 2045 one...

  4. 2044--oh no, not Michael!

Ha! Didn't remember what Hammertime was until I read Jess's comment. Guess I already forgot that one. ~_~

  5. What an interesting list. I think most young people have already forgotten there was a time before Facebook...or the Internet!

  6. Wow, that's sad to think about! Already kids I sit for that are 5 & 6 don't believe me when I tell them that I didn't grow up having a cell phone, let alone an iPhone :P

  7. This is hilarious, Gina. And I agree with Cynthia and Alicia Marie that kids don't remember a time before the internet and cell phones.

Egad! Unlike Barbara, I remember Lorena Bobbit (you know, the woman who cut off... never mind). And that volcano in Iceland was only a couple of years ago. They say the internet is changing the way our brains work, and I believe it.

  8. A friend posted a picture of those four-sided flash cubes - which I remember using! - and I felt really, really old with all the comments. Maybe we were just too broke to buy the more advanced ones, but I know I used a small camera (110 film!) with a flash cube all during my middle school years. (I took it to Girl Scout camp is why I remember so well.) LOL. This list is just another fun reminder. Thanks!

By the way I love the changes to your blog! I have been writing, not blogging or visiting blogs, so I haven't seen it. Looks fabulous Gina!
